This poem was directly inspired by the song “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin. To me, this was a way to explore how the song insinuates someone closing themselves off from love and how there is no way that the narrator can properly give them the love they deserve. The only difference is that I chose the woman of this poem to be the one closed off from love.
