As of May 02, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., I am an Architectural Graduate of Florida A&M University.
Thankfully, my experience at this ILLUSTRIOUS HBCU has been nothing short of extravagantly beautiful as I have been able to learn more about my ethnic history, fellowship with the diaspora,
enhance my skillset, and learn the purpose that God has awarded me. I got to meet wonderful people and start the declaration of my writing and architecture career. I am so excited to see what the Lord has for me.
HOWEVER! This current administration and job market is dangerous. Here, I’ve come home despite my wishes to do my Master of Architecture out-of-state because Tr**p’s administration has declared the architectural field as a non-professional degree. Meaning that they’ve cut funding for the degree and ain’t nobody from my background got that type of dough.
It can be YEN, DOLLARS, hell, it can be the Sri Lankan Rupee. I ain’t got it. So, I will pivot and do a construction specialist technical certification. I am NOT sure what this will do for my career other than buy me time to get my life together, but I’m willing to do it and pray that the Lord hands me a job of some sorts.
On the Bright side…
I can say that I have been taking my writing and other creative works seriously. I plan on uploading my architectural work and creative writing to the “Le Boudoir“ and “Arch Portfolio” pages respectively.
Additionally, I have started plotting my historical romance novels! I cannot wait to start my first draft. I’m excited regardless of what path or pace my life is going, It’s a New Era of AHBRI.
